Structure first. Then the tension.
Chouchou is the graphic practice of Anton “Mitch” Mityukov. Posters, type, images and motion – built from grid and composition, then pushed until they make something happen.
(01)Practice
A name for a way of working.
Chouchou is not a company and not a team. It is the name under which Anton Mityukov gathers his graphic work: posters, type, images, motion – and whatever happens in between.
It almost always starts with a grid. It creates order, sets distances, gives every form its place. Things get interesting where that order comes under pressure: where a composition tips over, a letterform warps, an image starts to move.
The work is made freely, in series and trials. Some of it stays on paper; some is animated, filmed or turned into objects.
(02)Fields
Four fields. One language.
Poster
The format that makes you stop before it explains. For years now, the main laboratory.
Typography
Type as form: grids, proportions, characters – and what happens when you pull at them.
Image & film
Light, framing and rhythm. Graphic thinking carried into space and time.
Motion
Compositions that keep developing. The same grid, the same rules – extended by time.
Designed for paper. Built for motion.
A poster hangs still. On a screen, it doesn’t have to. So many pieces exist twice: printed and in motion – the same composition, extended by time.
The motion isn’t added afterwards. It follows the grid the image was built from.
